Bush Hospital Foundation - Jersey to Monte Carlo - Day 5
Hi all,
Well we are now on our own, no clues to solve, nothing to find, and let me tell you, it’s strange!
Today has seen us walk around the complete Grand Prix circuit of Monaco in just under 2 hours, and pay extortionate prices for coffee in a 5 star hotel!
Such a waste of good rubber...
Don't think this Ferrari driver knows the correct course direction though..
Needless to say, we couldn’t afford to stay there any longer, so we left Monte Carlo just before 4pm and headed into Italy via the famous tunnel...
After successfully overtaking DC, we came out the other side and saw an insignicant dingy floating in the marina..
We climbed into the mountains and left Monaco behind us..
We have travelled about 180 miles into Italy and eventually managed to find a hotel to stay for the night – albeit in the middle of nowhere, 1000metres up a random mountain, with a slightly strange landlady as our host – it appears she isn’t used to having people stay very often!
Its been raining plenty since leaving Monte –the higher we go, the more it rains, and the temperature has dropped from 17 deg C down to 4 deg C as we climbed.
Tea tonight consisted of a toasted cheese sandwich, as nowhere was open once we’d found the nights accommodation – in fact lunch was remarkably similar to tea!
Now we’ve had our bottle of specially imported Danish Christmas Special Beer, its nearly time to sleep – door firmly locked, valuables hidden under the sheets!
(We stopped short at crosses and garlic, but there’s time yet)
The only other significant occurrence of the day was stopping in some grotty town for 20 minutes and getting a parking fine – it appears Italy are the only place in the world that charges to park on a Sunday. Anyway, we treated it with the respect it deserved – if anyone thinks they are likely to follow our identity back to Jersey, speak now, or it gets binned!
A few pictures of our travels are enclosed for you enjoyment (not many, as we’re back to 9.6k GSM data again!)
…… until the next time….
