Day 09 – Andorra and beyond…

We’ve already explained about our lie-in of today, so we’ll move on once more to the important parts…. The view from our hotel window this morning…

As the next pictures shows, things weren’t much better on the inside…

But that’s life, it’s what we had to deal with. So we left.

And headed for the border…

…desperate to shake off memories of the terrible views… so imagine our dismay when we got to Andorra!!

However, things were soon looking up, when we found this absolutely fantastic car park!!

This car park was unbelievable.. it was absolutely spotless! It was so clean, it would have put an F1 teams’ garage to shame… so clean, there was actually a mini road sweeper driving around behind us, cleaning up any dirt we may leave behind!

The first thing we had to do once we arrive was to get Petrol…. And oh boy am I glad we waited until we got to Andorra to fill up – they practically give the stuff away here!!

For those not so handy with a calculator, the price of Super Unleaded 98 (yes thats NINETY-EIGHT for all you high octane fanatics out there) equates to approximately 58 pence per litre….  Cheaper than Spain, which itself was cheaper than France… although having filled up in with Super Unleaded 97 at 83 pence per litre before we left the island, they ALL put Jersey to shame!! (any politicians reading want to take this up?!). And did you spot the price of diesel? 44 pence per litre!

Anyway, not wishing to labour too much on that point (to late now?) we began our tour of Andorra on foot, to check out the alleged bargains on offer…. They were pretty reasonable, but not stunning, and it wasn’t exactly hot here…

So we made our way back to our 5 star car-park, a little concerned as to how much it was going to cost us, but were impressed to pay the 6.25 euros that our afternoon’s stay cost, (this barely covers the vacuuming costs!), and began our journey out of Andorra, and up the mountains… where the temperature was getting lower…

…and the snow was getting whiter…

And the fog was getting thicker…

And Leon was getting lllaaaaaaaaaarrrrggggeerrrrrrr - for all you Airplane fans, that will mean something…. For everyone else, you’ll have no idea what I’m going about.. (no change there then?)

We were soon out of Andorra and back in France – that’s us below.. (left of the yellow line is Andorra, right of it is France…)

…and arrived out our Ibis hotel in Carcassonne, (yes, we were here on Day 3 of the trip, same town, different hotel though!), where we passed our breakfast stop for tomorrow morning…

After checking in and discovering there was an ADSL connected Internet PC, we had dinner (much cheaper than the Parador, but no less pleasant!) and then set about the updates. Our next trip is downstairs to do the uploads, then we’ll retire for an early night (little late for that, being 12.45am already and we’ve not yet uploaded!), so until the next one, its goodbye from me, and its goodnight from him!

Night all,

Garry and Mike

P.S. Its now 2am - goodnight!
