Day 07 – Vic, GP and Granollers...

Once again, our morning began at 6am – the only difference to yesterday being we were on the road by 6.50am!

The trusty beast…

…got us to the circuit in record time, (due to a friendly Audi driver setting the pace for us!), however, we then had to wait outside the gates at the circuit as they didn’t open until 8am! Once they did finally open, it then took another half an hour to get through security – no cans or bottles are allowed, so anyone bringing them along had to literally dump them in bins outside! And the police searched all the bags.

Just as we arrived and made our way up to the track area, the Safety car was doing his lap of the circuit prior to the first F1 practice..

We spent the rest of the day watching cars go past at incredible speeds…

We also saw a few more of these…

And even had a close encounter with Alex Wurst (McLaren Test driver)

We even bumped into 4 Jersey people flying our local flag (obviously supporting a driver we don’t yet have in F1 !!)

After another tiring and expensive day at the races (we purchased the most expensive can of coke ever – 4 euro’s for one can!), we headed back to the hotel for a brief rest, then headed off to Granollers to meet Brian and Spence for dinner. They were staying at a hotel where lots of the F1 crew were based, and obviously got chatting to one of the Jaguar crew, who was just about to head off to pick up a certain William Courtenay, who was still at work at the race track!! (Chris, you’ve trained him well!)

After a lovely meal, we headed back to the hotel and checked to see that none of the drivers were in the bar getting horribly drunk (couldn’t see any…but we’ll find out for sure tomorrow!), then we began our journey back to the Parador, carefully, as it was dark, and we didn’t come prepared for night driving, thus couldn’t see where we were going!

As its now midnight, and up again tomorrow at 6am, we’ll keep this one short, bid you a good night, and post the following picture of support for DC.

We’ll speak to you all again tomorrow, probably after the German bloke in the red car has won the race!

Night all,

Garry and Mike
