Gallery Rally 2015 — Jersey to Paris
Paris to Jersey via St Malo
Hello everybody (assuming anyone is still reading!) - welcome to the 5th and final day of the trip, which, as you'll be able to tell from the title is the return trip!
We celebrated our mighty 5th finishing place by rewarding ourselves with an hours lie-in this morning, and even allowed ourselves the privelidge of watching a bit of TV before getting up.
Imagine our surprise when we found Heidi and Chip starring in their own animation...
Anyway, a lovely breakfast was had shortly afterwards - the first cooked breakfast of the trip in fact - after which we made a hasty exit, due to the fact we needed to be in St Malo by 3pm to check in for our boat.
A quick external shot of our hotel as we left....
....and then we went in search of the underground carpark where we had parked the car.
If you ever think that parking costs a lot of money where you are, you want to try parking in Paris for 16 hours! €39.60 is what that particular privelidge will set you back!
Anyway, we begrudingly paid our money and then made our way out of the city, taking a few snaps on the way..
....we said our farewells to the Eiffel Tower ...
and the Statue of Liberty...
...the nearly leaning tower of Pisa...
...and eventually we were out of Paris and onto the open roads....
Taking in the sights...
...showing the local Harley gang who was boss...
We stopped for chocolate....
And more chocolate...
Always checking the rear-view mirror....
And evetually we started to see signs that we were getting close to our destination...
We waited for Adam to get Petrol....
(again)
And eventually we were checking in for our boat. A short period later, we were boarding our boat and enjoying a beautiful crossing back to Jersey. (Mike tells me it was good; I slept most of it)
This year's trip has been realtively short and sweet by our previous standards, although despite that, we have covered just over 800 miles.
We even had to fill up once. Not till Day 2 (although to be fair, we wouldn't have needed to fill up until Day 5, but we were so complacent this year that we only started the trip with half a tank!)
We've seen some excellent sites, beautiful French villages and towns, and enjoyed pitting our wits against the evil mind of the Clue Master and Mistress.
So, masive thanks, as always, to Chip and Heidi...and who ever their new friend is...
You may note that none of them are looking very happy. Sadly, Chip and Heidi had their passports stolen this morning at some point - however we are delighted to say they managed to get back safely to the UK with the help of some helpful local police.
(it also appears from that picture that someone has stolen their goats)
Thanks to everyone who has particiapted in this years trip, and for making it what is is. We hope to see some if not all of you next year!
And a big thanks from me to Mike for letting me drive his extremely economical car, his excellent company, his generally excellent jokes, and almost always excellent navigation!
And for his excellent and diverse photographs, without which, this blog would just be a load of irrelevent drivvel!
Anyway, thats if for another year - thanks to everyone who has commented on the guest book, and please continue to do so for as long as you can work out the anti-spam mathematical question. Guest book can be accessed here: http://www.itsanevoadventure.org.je/Guestbook/gbook.php
