Balderdash Rally — Jersey to Paris 2014

Jersey to Maison Tirel Guerin, Saint-Meloir des Ondes

Hello everyone. The wait is over!

Welcome to Day 1 (well, night 1) of the Balderdash Rally - so called because this is Phil Balderson's stag do - and here is the man himself, and more importantly, his lovely wife to be, Emma!

Whilst we didn't actually officialy start the rally until 15:45, there has of course been the all important preparation jobs that needed doing today. Packing was probably one of them, but that clearly takes a lower priority than cleaning and stickering up the car!

After signing on yesterday afternoon and being handed our starter packs, we set about looking for the all important traditional 'hidden' clue.

And we're happy to say we found it...

15 bonus points in the bag - and having proved it, we were allowed to remove them before we over heated!

Our initial rendez-vouz point was the beautiful setting of Longueville Manor..

After chatting amongst our fellow competitors

..and admiring the machinery...

we sipped the champagne (small glasses, naturally!), and ate the canapes, and headed to the harbour to board our ferry to France, after being handed our 'boat leg' challenge by Mrs Clue Master, Heidi..

Upon arrival at the Harbour, we were met by Chip, keen to keep us all in order, it was clear from the start he was taking a zero tolerance approach!

Upon boarding the boat, we spent the next hour and 20mins puzzling our heads over the following challenges..

On arrival at our hotel, which took all of 20 minutes to get to from St Malo...

....we were ushered straight into our Michelin starred restaurant where we had a most delicious 3 course meal.

Clearly, there haven't been any actual clues to solve today, as the real tour starts properly tomorrow, but based purely on the scarves and the word association (excluding the word search), here is the temporary leader board..

So, full from a superb feast, we are now retiring to our room with the his and his sinks...

...in order to write this update.

Until tomorrow, its bye bye from both of us!
